I see my role mostly as a nutrient. Thats's how I can best describe what my work seems to be. Doesn't sound too alluring does it? I've been working somewhat relentlessly over these past years on my mission to spread regenerative design and holistic decision making around the globe. I have constantly been considering how to refine my own (un)learning adventure and listening deeply into what participants of trainings and others working in the field reflect back as leverage points to make my work more beneficial. That's why I have been developing what I think is quite a unique learning opportunity in Europe, our new 10 Week Project Initiator Internship training. I'd like to know what you think... I designed our 10 week accelerator Internship program as a response to people consistently telling me over the last couple of years they wanted a fast track intensive immersion into project initiation, getting stuck into creating systems from scratch. We have seen similar programs in other parts of the world, but I don't really know of any in Europe. One of my strong intentions is to support super committed people wanting to commit their lives to resilient & regenerative design that are wanting to dive in to fill the demand for professional designers with the broad skill sets and tangible & effective design and decision making strategies that are needed so badly all over the world.
There is no career pathway in the Permaculture world, yet there is a big demand for this work everywhere I have been. Having built up a successful career from many years of intensive hard work this Internship is my attempt to help address this by offering a fast track immersion to help catalyze people into full time action. In setting up this flagship project we realized the unique learning opportunity present when a project goes from master plan out onto the field. Designing on paper is easy, the real learning occurs in the implementation, observation and decision making. I have visited projects all over the world, some awesome, some failing. All the best examples I have seen have either been designed comprehensively & competently, or put together by professionals from other related fields/ experience. It is clear to me that budgeting, prioritization in implementation, decision making and innovative use of resources is a huge part of the skill set needed in this amazing field. By hosting intensive immersion internships we realized we could give people a level of responsibility and practical engagement that is hard to find in Europe. We have leveraged the time to include 5 Certificate Trainings and time assigned weekly to working on a detailed personal design with regular feedback form both a professional designer accredited by P.R.I. (Aus) (reg. Teacher No. 24) & P.C. Assoc (UK) and the peer group. The certificate trainings include;
